D.C. Law 21-18. Medical Marijuana Supply Shortage Temporary Amendment Act of 2015.

AN ACT

To amend, on a temporary basis, the Legalization of Marijuana for Medical Treatment Initiative of 1998 to increase the number of living marijuana plants that a cultivation center can possess at any time.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this act may be cited as the "Medical Marijuana Supply Shortage Temporary Amendment Act of 2015".

Sec. 2. Section 7(e)(2) of the Legalization of Marijuana for Medical Treatment Initiative of 1998, effective February 25, 2010 (D.C. Law 13-315; D.C. Official Code § 7-1671.06(e)(2)), is amended by striking the number "500" and inserting the number "1000" in its place.

Sec. 3. Fiscal impact statement.

The Council adopts the fiscal impact statement of the Budget Director as the fiscal impact statement required by section 602(c)(3) of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act, approved December 24, 1973 (87 Stat. 813; D.C. Official Code §1-206.02(c)(3)).

Sec. 4. Effective date.

(a) This act shall take effect following approval by the Mayor (or in the event of veto by the Mayor, action by the Council to override the veto), a 30-day period of congressional review as provided in section 602(c)(l) of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act, approved December 24, 1973 (87 Stat. 813; D.C. Official Code §1-206.02(c)(l)), and publication in the District of Columbia Register.

(b) This act shall expire after 225 days of its having taken effect.

The bill was adopted on first and second readings on Apr. 14, 2015, and May 5, 2015, respectively. After mayoral review, it was assigned Act No. 21-71 on May 22, 2015, and transmitted to Congress for its review. D.C. Law 21-18 became effective July 22, 2015.
